About the speaker Dr Maria Harriet Stack
Maria, originally from Ireland, is a qualified GP, working in Farnborough, Hampshire as a partner in practice from 1989 to 2002. While there she developed an interest in aviation medicine. This led to her studying and achieving the basic and advanced diplomas in Aviation Medicine, at Kings College, University of London. Maria was asked to be a contributor for a book ”Fitness to Fly” which was published in 2002, during a time of increased public awareness regarding DVT and ‘economy class syndrome’.
Currently based in Ireland on sabbatical from General Practice doing research into trigeminal neuralgia type 2 (also known as ‘the suicide disease’). Maria also has a research interest in cancer.
