CPD/CME Webinar for GPs and Nurses
“Mummy’s little helpers’ the management of benzodiazepines
and Z-drugs misuse“
With Dr Wiktor Kulik
on Tuesday 27th June at 8pm BST
On Tuesday 27th June, Psychiatrist, Dr Wiktor Kulik will be delivering a masterclass on the management of benzodiazepines and Z-drugs misuse. Benzodiazepines were first used in the 1950s as a safe alternative to the barbiturates. By the 1970s they became one of the most frequently prescribed medication of all time. In the 21st century they are extremely easy to purchase online (just check your spam box).
With decimated addiction services the management of the misuse and dependence is often led by the GPs. It might be easier to just hand out another prescription to a screaming patient. Or is it?
Expected Learning Outcomes
- Learn when and when not to prescribe
- Gain knowledge of how to convert the doses
- Understand how to safely wean people off
- Learn about non-addictive alternatives for anxiety and insomnia
This webinar is equivalent to 1 CPD credit
