CPD/CME Webinar for GPs and Nurses
“CFS/M.E, POTS and Autonomic Dysfunction”
With Professor Julia Newton and Dr Lesley Kavi
on Thursday 4th May 17 8-9 pm GMT
On Thursday 4th May 17 at 8pm, Julia Newton, Professor at Newcastle University and Dr Lesley Kavi, GP in the West Midlands, will be presenting a webinar masterclass on M.E, PoTS and Autonomic Dysfunction.
Chronic fatigue syndrome/ME is a common condition affecting > 250,000 people in the UK. 25% of these are house or bed bound. Almost 90% of those with CFS/ME describe symptoms of autonomic dysfunction, the severity of which associates with fatigue severity. Recently a number of groups have identified that up to 30% of those with the diagnosis of CFS when tested properly have PoTS. As there are potential therapies for PoTS this is a diagnosis well worth pursuing.
Expected Learning Outcomes:
- Prevalence of CFS /ME and of autonomic dysfunction
- When to suspect autonomic dysfunction in CFS/ME
- How to test/screen for autonomic dysfunction in primary care
- Tests for autonomic dysfunction in secondary care
- Consider appropriate clinical management strategies
This webinar is equivalent to 1 CPD credit
